Congratulations to Mikie Sherrill - Next Governor of New Jersey on a Historic Win

The Maplewood Democratic Committee congratulates Mikie Sherrill on her decisive victory in the general election of November 4th. It is a historic win for New Jersey. Mikie Sherrill is the first female democrat governor of the state. Sherrill's victory marks the first time since the 1960s that New Jersey voters have elected a governor from the same party three terms in a row. Turnout was at an all time high with Sherrill winning with over 13 points over her opponent Jack Ciattarelli. Maplewood had higher than expected turnout with over 11,410 people voting compared to 9,400 people in 2021- a 24% increase.

The Maplewood Democratic Committee will continue working with Mikie Sherrill and other Democrats to ensure that New Jersey is safe democratic place for all.
